Information Regarding Visas For International Travelers
- On April 17, 2013, Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs introduced the Electronic Visa Application System (e-Visa). In around three minutes, travelers to Turkey can apply for an e-Visa via the Turkish government website (www.evisa.gov.tr).
- The e-Visa can be obtained at any time of the day or night, as long as there is an Internet connection. Applicants can apply for a visa online by providing the essential information, such as their name, passport number, and travel dates, and paying the visa fee.
- Please be aware that e-visas are only valid for travel for tourism or business purposes. Visas are issued by Turkish embassies and consulates for a variety of additional purposes, such as work and study abroad programmes.
- Diplomatic, service, special, and official passports are all included in the term “official passports.”
- It is highly recommended that you arrive in Turkey with a travel document or passport that is valid for at least six months from the date of issue.
- Efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to improve the e-Visa system and make it easier for foreigners to obtain visas are still ongoing.
- E-Visa applications to the United States will soon be available in languages other than English and French.
- Many credit and debit cards, including Visa and MasterCard, can be used to make a purchase. Tour operators can apply and pay for group eVisas all at once.
- Visitors from other countries will be able to obtain e-Visas at the offices of authorised airline companies, including those located in airports themselves.
- Truck drivers may need a different type of visa than the rest of the population in some nations. Please contact the Turkish embassy in your location if you require any additional information.
- Citizens of a country’s citizens are exempt from visa requirements. However, individuals having travel documents from that country must first obtain a visa from one of the Turkish embassies.
- Foreign researchers and documentarians must acquire permission from the Turkish authorities before photographing or excavating an archaeological site.
- To stay in the country for more than 90 days without a visa, you’ll need a resident permit. Even if a foreigner’s visa is still valid, he or she must register with the local police station as soon as they arrive in Turkey, no matter how long it takes.
- There is a list of these items on the MLSS website (http://www.csgb.gov.tr). At the absolute least, the MLSS takes 30 days to finalize an application. The local police station must issue you a residency permit within one month of your arrival in Turkey (and before you begin working).
- A travel document (passport) with an expiration date at least 60 days past the “length of stay” mentioned on a visa, electronic entry permit, or residence permit is required by law for foreigners seeking admission into Turkey as of January 1, 2015. From that date, all visa types, electronic entrance permits, and residency permits were subject to this new rule.
It is exempt from this Article for nationals of the following countries:
- An additional 60 days of travel document validity is required for entry into Turkey with a visa with a “duration of stay” of 90 days. This makes the total number of allowed days in Turkey 150 days.
- Travel documents valid for at least another 60 days are required for entry into Turkey with a 30-day “duration of stay” visa. This makes the total validity of the travel document required for entry into Turkey at the time of entry to be 90 days.
This provision does not apply to the following types of businesses:
